This is an attempt to cherish the heritage of our Rotary Club of Faridabad . It came into existence in the year 1954 when Faridabad New Industrial Town (NIT) was a newborn township. NIT was designed and conceived to rehabilitate Bannu refugees from Pakistan. Industrial Area was created to give employment to the people rehabilitated there. Delhi used to be far a far off place then. Apart from few long distance trains , a morning and another evening bus helped the commuting. Industry was offered cheap land and power to come and start enterprise near Delhi. Quite a number of industries came into the area and depend on Delhi. The industrialists and executives were few and needed a common platform to socialize, know the community around and work with them.

It is informed that Sh. Bhargwa an old Rotarian from Amritsar of the Bhargwa Glass initiated the move to Rotary Club of Faridabad in 1954-55. That was the early industrialization period and there was much to learn, train and develop. People who could be counted easily and in need of friends joined to form the Rotary Club of Faridabad.

The administrator COL. KULWANT RAI was the CHARTER PRESIDENT.

In the year 1955 , on 14TH
August the club was given its charter by Rotary International which was handed over to the club by the District Governor Rtn. S.P.Virmani . the continuation of freedom struggle , the partition of the country and the ideals of building the new society were guiding forces then. Though Delhi is still there without having moved an inch nearer to Faridabad , the atmosphere, the scenario , the minds , the expansion of both places have changed by pushing out the memories of old days. The growth of Delhi along Mathura road and continuation of Faridabad without a gap has reduced this along distances to an overlap. Population in India has grown from about less than 40 crores to over 100 crores .

A club is nothing more than its membership. The beginning as has been pointed out was the desire of friendship, good fellowship and development of cozy relation. The Rotary Founder Paul Harris had similar urge. Some of the senior Rotarians are still the symbol of old days but slowly the toll of time is claiming them due to various reasons. In 2000 the active and last charter member Rtn. P.P Balasundaram left for his heavenly abode .
